Materials and yarn planning

Yarns we’ve reviewed that suit it: Lion Brand Basic Stitch Anti-Pilling yarn, Lion Brand Heartland yarn, Lion Brand Wool-Ease DK yarn. For the hook, choose by size and handle.

For an exact figure in your own yarn, weigh a washed swatch in the pattern stitch: the weighed-swatch yarn calculator scales it to each flat panel or strip. Allow a little more for seams, edging and tails.

Finished size and gauge

An infinity scarf is usually 56–64 in (142–163 cm) around so it loops twice over the head. With R rows per 10 cm, work 15 × R rows for 150 cm: 150 rows at 10 rows per 10 cm.

Count rows for this pattern

Base and V rows

  1. Chain 27. Single crochet in the second chain from the hook and across: 26 stitches.
  2. V row: chain 3 and turn (counts as an edge double crochet). [Skip the next stitch, (dc, ch 1, dc) in the next stitch] 12 times, double crochet in the last stitch: 12 V stitches.
  3. Next rows: chain 3 and turn. Work (dc, ch 1, dc) into each of the 12 chain-1 spaces, and double crochet in the top of the turning chain.
  4. Repeat to about 150 cm, or your planned length. Fasten off, leaving a long tail.

Join the loop

  1. Bring the short ends together without twisting, or give one end a half turn for a Möbius scarf.
  2. Sew through matching stitches with the long tail, weave in the ends, and try the loop over the head twice before you trim.

Check the work

Every row has 12 V stitches and 2 edge double crochets.
