How Crochet.guide makes recommendations
What supports the lessons, product choices and calculator results.

What the recommendations mean
Supply suggestions match published specifications to a specific use: handle shape, hook diameter, yarn fiber, put-up, care and tool function. They are editorial fit suggestions, not awards based on hands-on comparisons. We do not score comfort, durability or stitch quality without physical testing.
Sources and dates
Craft Yarn Council standards anchor hook and yarn references. Manufacturer product pages support catalog facts; LoveCrafts and independent tutorials inform topic coverage. Research was checked on September 7, 2026. Product pages link to the relevant manufacturer, and the downloadable catalog retains the checked date.
Units and ambiguity
Hook millimeters take precedence over US letters or historic UK numbers. Steel hooks remain separate. Yarn-weight categories describe a range, not identical thickness or guaranteed substitution. Calculators keep lengths in one unit before arithmetic and round purchasable balls upward.
When facts change
Published product details can change by region, color and batch. A product source check is not an inventory check. No live price or stock claims appear here. Yarn label instructions take precedence for the ball in your hand.
Catalog specifications are marked for review 90 days after their source check. After 180 days, tools stop filling in package measurements automatically; the dated reference remains available. Imported quantities require a check against the exact ball label, and editing package details requires a new check. These intervals concern manufacturer specifications, not live prices or stock.
Testing and images
Stitch drawings and practice instructions are original. They are explanatory schematics, not photographs of a finished sample. The homepage yarn still life is AI-generated artwork and does not depict catalog products. Calculators are software-tested; the practice instructions have not been physically test-crocheted. No third-party patterns are reproduced.
Supply photographs come through Amazon’s licensed product API. Each links to the exact item shown; the caption identifies the hook size, set or yarn color and ball size. Photos disappear when their short-lived metadata expires or the image cannot load. Other colors and packs may differ from the one pictured.
Corrections
Use the contact form for a technical correction and include the relevant source when possible. Material source and formula changes should update the catalog or instruction, its check date, and the associated test. Commercial relationships must never change ordering.
