Crochet scarf sizes: length and width for every age

An adult scarf is usually 6–8 in wide and 60–72 in long (15–20 × 152–183 cm); a child’s about 5–6 × 42–48 in. Cowls are measured around: about 22–26 in for a neck cowl and 56–64 in for an infinity scarf.

Plan length from the wearer

A scarf about as long as the wearer is tall wraps once with ends that hang to the waist. Fringe adds length on both ends; leave it out of the worked length if you add it later.

Every cowl that goes on over the head must stretch past it. Crochet stretches less than knitting, so check a neck cowl against the head circumference before you join it.
