Compare crochet stitch markers: removable options

Check the Clover marker set’s sizes and closure, then compare it with a loop of spare yarn. Closed rings get stuck in crochet; use markers that open.

Start with what the project needs

A marker must come out of crochet wherever it is placed. Compare an opening marker with a loose contrast-yarn loop; a closed knitting ring is a different tool.

When to skip the purchase

A loose loop of contrasting yarn can mark an edge. Keep it large enough to remove without cutting the project yarn. If it slips out too readily, an opening marker is a different choice.
